Almost every call we take starts with the same question in some form: do I need a deep clean, or is a standard clean enough? It is a fair question, because the two services are priced quite differently and the names do not make the distinction obvious.
A standard clean is maintenance. It assumes the home is already in reasonable shape and keeps it there. That means dusting surfaces and fixtures, vacuuming carpets and rugs, mopping hard floors, wiping kitchen counters and appliance exteriors, and cleaning bathroom sinks, mirrors, toilets, tubs, and showers. It is thorough, but it works at the surface level and it works quickly because there is no backlog to dig out of.
A deep clean assumes there is a backlog. It goes after everything a standard visit does not touch: inside the oven and refrigerator, grease built up on the range hood and backsplash, grout lines that have gone grey, baseboards and door frames, switch plates, vents, cabinet fronts, and the floor behind and underneath movable furniture. It takes substantially longer, which is why it costs more.
So which do you need? A practical rule: if it has been more than six months since anyone cleaned the home properly, start with a deep clean. The same applies if you are moving into a place someone else lived in, if there has been illness in the house, if you have just finished a renovation, or if you are hosting and want the home to look genuinely reset rather than merely tidy.
If a professional has cleaned within the last few weeks and you are simply keeping up, a standard clean is the right call and paying deep-clean pricing would be a waste of money. We would rather tell you that than upsell you.
The approach most of our clients settle on is a hybrid: one deep clean to establish a baseline, then a recurring standard schedule to hold it. That combination is almost always cheaper over a year than repeatedly letting things slide and paying for deep cleans to recover. It also means each visit is short and predictable rather than a full-day project.
If you are still unsure, the free estimate exists for exactly this. We look at the actual condition of the home and tell you which service fits — including when the answer is the cheaper one.
